About Me

Hi, my name’s Daniel Ernst, and I’m an Assistant Professor of English and a writer. I hold a PhD in English from Purdue University, where I studied automated language technologies, AI, educational assessment, technical communication, and rhetoric. This website houses my inconsistently updated blog, where I write about education, AI, literacy research, public policy, teaching, and sometimes post ruminative personal essays.

I currently teach courses in rhetoric, composition, grammar, science and technical communication, and the rhetoric of AI. You can find sample classroom materials in the teaching section and more about my scholarship in the research section. I also enjoy appearing in public-facing forums to discuss the state of education and more, which you can learn about in the public speaking section.

If you’d like to chat, collaborate, have me on your podcast, or let me write for or pitch you, please email me at dernst@twu.edu
